Stranded
Copyright 2008 Michael S. Hysinger
You searched for love – turned every stone
You tried to find perfection now you’re all alone
The fading light – within your eyes
Reflects a cold moon rising in an empty sky
You’re on an island of pain - and you feel
Stranded - between the dreams you thought you knew
And what the world has made of you
You watch your life just sail away - and leave you
Stranded – like the shipwreck on the shore
Or all the hopes you knew before - Will you just let them slip away
Behind those tears – you used to know
How love becomes the doorway into every soul
You closed the door – and turned the key
And nothing on the outside can ever set you free
You’re on an island of pain - and you feel
Stranded - between the dreams you thought you knew
And what the world has made of you
You watch your life just sail away - and leave you
Stranded – like the shipwreck on the shore
Of all the hopes you knew before - Will you just let them slip away
Beneath the pain you feel a spark from the love you tried to find
You hear it call from deep in your heart where it’s been waiting all this time
Stranded - between the dreams you thought you knew
And what the world has made of you
You watch your life just sail away - and leave you
Stranded – like the shipwreck on the shore
