Soundtrack For My Life
Copyright 2009 Michael S. Hysinger
This is the soundtrack for my
life
A simple melody that twists
and turns through time
And as I listen – the stories
of my life begin to rhyme
Stained glass windows way up
high
The sunlight streaming in brings
colors to my eyes
A celebration I’m too young
to understand
They’re holding rings with
trembling hands
My mother draws me near
She’s humming in my ear
The first few phrases of the
soundtrack for my life
A blind man singing on the
street
I toss a coin into a suitcase
by his feet
I’m still a child but I
pretend to know the song
I start to dance and sing
along
He turns and looks right
through me
His dark eyes singing to me
The words become part of the
soundtrack for my life
His words still ringing in my
ears
He says that happiness comes
from the love we make
And here’s the secret – it’s
all in what we give not what we take
A warm guitar beside the fire
I strum some chords the music
fills me with desire
I realize that it’s the song that’s
playing me
Creating melodies and dreams
The ending credits roll – and
now I’ve come to know
I write the meaning – of the
soundtrack – for my life
For my life – I write the
soundtrack – For my life
This is the soundtrack
