Maybe It’s Better

Maybe I should take down this picture that you painted
Or maybe I will want that memory
It’s funny I can still taste those colors on your fingers
In the picture you still stand close to me
I’d never take you away from the life that you made of your dreams
But if I could live twice
I’d be there in one of your scenes
With your eyes painting me
Through the frame and your smile I’d see my reflection
But maybe it’s better – maybe it’s better this way
Now I can see - why you needed your distance
For the same reasons I needed mine
You never had the space in your life for these two loves
Demanding too much of your time
But I’d never take you away from the life that you made of your dreams
But if I could live twice
I’d be there in one of your scenes
With your eyes painting me
Through the frame and your smile I’d see my reflection
But maybe it’s better – maybe it’s better this way
Going down our chosen roads – walking separate ways
We find our place in this Universe
I won’t take you away from the life that you made of your dreams
But if I could live twice
I’d be there in one of your scenes
With your eyes painting me
Through the frame and your smile I’d see my reflection
But maybe it’s better – maybe it’s better - maybe it’s better this way
