Dreams of Love We Knew
Copyright 2008 Michael S. Hysinger
A moment out of time – a picture in my mind
Smiling as we’re planting a garden
But now the weeds have grown – the seeds were left unsown
And all the crimson roses have darkened
Forgotten dreams gone by – neglecting paradise
We took our whole world for granted
But I’m hoping – the dreams of love we knew will start to grow again
I’m hoping – the fields we’re walking through will bring us home again
In cultivating love again – we’ll open up and heal
By tearing down our walls we will feel - what’s real
As life drew us away from fields in which we played
Our precious times together all ended
The obligations rose with feelings growing cold
For like a garden love must be tended
I’m digging in the clay – to find our yesterday
And feed the love that we planted
And I’m hoping – the dreams of love we knew will start to grow again
I’m hoping – the fields we’re walking through will bring us home again
We closed the gate to paradise and couldn’t find the key
We locked away the love that we need
But I’m hoping – the dreams of love we knew will start to grow again
I’m hoping – the fields we’re walking through will bring us home again
In cultivating love again – we’ll open up and heal
By tearing down our walls we will feel - what’s real
We’ll plant another row and watch our garden grow
Then find the dreams of love we once knew
