Just Can’t Cry These Tears Away
Copyright 2008 Michael S. Hysinger
Sitting alone at the river’s edge – cool, dark water covers my feet
Last night brought me a thousand tears – trying to cry you out of me
But when I woke this morning – your pillow right beside me
The scent brought up another thousand tears
I just can’t cry – enough of these tears away
To clear a space around the heartache – so I can breathe another day
There’s a hole in my heart – where we used to play
And though I try I just can’t cry these tears away
The note you left said the spark was gone – you needed a lover not a friend
Your heart was cold and it needed warmth – you told me I’d find love again
I listen to the river – As darkness falls around me
My eyes become a waterfall again
I just can’t cry – enough of these tears away
To clear a space around the heartache – so I can breathe another day
There’s a hole in my heart – where we used to play
And though I try I just can’t cry these tears away
Couldn’t see it coming – thought you’d always love me
Closed my eyes as we grew cold inside
I didn’t fill your needs – And now I clearly see
That two must work to keep the fire alive
I just can’t cry – enough of these tears away
To clear a space around the heartache – so I can breathe another day
There’s a hole in my heart – where we used to play
And though I try I just can’t cry these tears away
