Brightest Star in the Southern Sky
Copyright 2007 Michael S. Hysinger
Big moon rising in a Texas sky
I saw a shooting star as you walked by
When you stopped to look my way - thought the night had turned to day
I was captured by the sparkle in your eye
You’re the brightest star in the Southern sky for as far as I can see
Let your love shine down from above to comfort me
With your warm Southern light
I see your light from a hundred million miles
It makes the years that I waited all worthwhile
When I’m on the road alone - I can’t wait to get back home
Press my lips against the star-shine of your smile
You’re the brightest star in the Southern sky for as far as I can see
Let your love shine down from above to comfort me
With your warm Southern light
And when darkness fills the air
It’s hard to see but I don’t despair
I just look up and I see you there
Smiling down at me right through the Milky Way
Now a tiny star-child lights our life
Just like you her eyes reflect the night
And with both of you so near I can see the love so clear
For there’s two stars in my heart that shine so bright
You’re the brightest stars in the Southern sky for as far as I can see
Let your love shine down from above to comfort me
With your warm Southern light
You know you are – the Brightest Stars in the Southern Sky
