Requiem

Once, I was the moon

the stars my brothers

my mother, the night

in time I waned

I heard them sing the Requiem

Then I was a stream

flowing, no moment caught me         still

I flowed into the ocean and was gone

They sang another Requiem

I then became a forest

a woods vast and deep…

…ages passed and so did I

And yet another Requiem

But now i am a man and when i sit by the stream on a moonlit night

the forest speaks to me – in words long forgotten

ah, that i might remember

perhaps i wasn’t meant to be a man

(i think that i must be the requiem)
