Symphonic Poem: From Silence Into Eternity - for Orchestra

Remembrance - for Orchestra
(Finale file with Garritan Sample Instruments) Completed December 2021 - New
material with some very old ideas that I've always wanted to incorporate into an
orchestral work.
Dirge & Double Waltz (Karşılama) for String Orchestra (wav file)
I finished this work June 2020. it's in two sections: the first section is highly chromatic
and is predominately in 3/4 time with a dark ostinato in the bass (repeated motif). The
second section is predominantly in 9/8 time broken into 3 quarter notes followed by 3
eight notes so it's a slow 3 followed by a fast 3 which I thought of as two waltzes,
hence the "Double Waltz" in the title. This rhythm is a traditional Turkish and Greek
dance rhythm so I added "Karşılama" to the title. The Karşılama section begins around
2:46 in the piece.
String Quartet #1 (Finale file with Garritan Sample Instruments) I finished this
work in October 2020 and it's the first classical work that I've done lately that is all new
material for everything except for the opening 8 bar fugue theme in the 3rd movement.
It feels good to be writing and developing new ideas again!

String Quartet #2 (Finale file with Garritan Sample Instruments) I finished this
work in October 2021. The 2nd and 3rd movements are based on my Thesis
composition from 1986 but revised since most of the 3rd movement was lost along
with all of the 1st movement. The new 1st movement is entirely new material as well
as most of the 3rd movement.

Woodwind Quintet: (Finale file with Garritan Sample Instruments)
This work is from 1984 but revised in 2016 with a new 1st movement using the
first 16 bars of the original (the rest was lost). The other movements have been
revised to some degree with the 3rd movement having the most new material. The
original 3rd and 4th movements won 3rd place in the Mu Phi Alpha Sinfonia
Woodwind Quintet competition in 1985. The revisions are much better!

Organum 2 - A seven bar Organ work in the Baroque style that I wrote in my
early twenties but it has a soft place in my heart. The bass line in the pedal
ascends through the scale and keeps moving up - to me it has an uplifting feel but
not without some sadness from the tension in the suspensions. Two times
through the 7 measures.
Organum 3 - this version is 3 times through the 7 measures
